It’s a long time since I accessed this blog yet today, for some quirky reason I was billed £62.40 by WordPress for the privilege. There seems to be no discernable way to contact a human being at WordPress, no phone or directe-mail, and the method of securing a refund on line doesn’t seem to work. And this is the time of the world-wide ‘outage’ debacle which has thrown much of the commercial world into chaos. I’m just one of those suckers, the small fry on a hook. Perhaps it isn’t fraud, but it will cost much more of my time to challenge this £62.40.

We’re entering a world of darkness. My piffling little problem is but a microbe in a global disease. By this time next year for example, the USA will probably be a fascist dictatorship. The biggest historical victim of all over the past decade has been The Truth. We occupy a lansdcape of lies and chicanery which was unbelievable 20 years ago. Denial of facts, figures, the abandonment of reason have built a new Dante’s Inferno. The ordinary man and woman today has to pick their way trough a minefield of misinformation in order to establish any clarity.

I shall return to writing here because I’ve paid for ‘the privilege’. Yet the written word is only a typographic smudge on the world canvas. I’m pleased to be an octogenarian. At least I’ll probably not survive into the Fourth Reich.
